Ok.
myspace is crap with jaws, I think we should patition them! woot - yeah!
Myspace is the trailor park of the internet, don't waiste your time on it.
I don't go there much anymore, their server is overloaded that either you get server busy and page can not be displayed, or it's very slow.
Enough to drive me nuts.
Troy
I don't go on there much. I go on there to change my profile once in a blue moon, check email, bulletins and blog subscriptions as alot of people for some gosh damn reason don't like LiveJournal. I told a friend "I use LiveJournal for my blog, not MySpace. Sign up for a LJ just to read a few journals that are in Friends Only mode. He yells: "I DON'T USE LIVEJORUNAL!
LJ is much more accessible then MySpace as I saw this on my pacmate one day. And I was also told from my technician that MySpace has adware! And when I get adware bugs he says "You were on MySpace weren't you?" and I'd try to cover and he'd bust me. LJ has no ads but paid memberships for those who want the nicer features.
The only reason myspace sucks with jaws is because of the people who use it, and the features those individuals put in their own profiles. When you let 12-year-olds run wild with songs and overloaded pictures when they don't know a thing about HTML, the site will freeze or screw up screen readers. But, that alone isn't the myspace team's fault; If you want to complain about myspace, I believe the ability to sign up with a screen reader causes problems, and that *is* the myspace team's fault. But, Layoff myspace and other blogging sites, they're not always so bad.
Personally I don't like myspace. It's too slow, and too full of crap. Definetly
too overrated, as well.
I like livejournal much better, and myyearbook.com, is much, much more jaws friendly.
The fact is, that MySpace is full of Thickos as are a number of similar sites. Not all users are thick. However, this is just another matter of visually impaired people being ... visually impaired. Find something better to do with your time than using sites that are too difficult for you.
I'd rather sign up for my space and proove I'm better then a "disability", rather then say screw it and find somethign else to do. I'd rather screw upmyself and say I can't do it, rather thenlisten to rude people like the last poster.
you go mv
it's not myspace's job to be accessible. I use it now and then and somehow added a song to my profile. I don't agree with the petitioning of every website just because it's not accessible. it's this kind of thing that makes me sad to be blind.
For what it's worth, you can very easily add a song to your MySpace with a simple html tag, assuming you have somewhere to host the song. I've used the site with little difficulty for the past year. The only actual accessibility problems that I am aware of are of course the character verification, and arranging your top 8 friends. As far as I know this can only be done by dragging pictures with the mouse. Other than that, anyone who can't use MySpace should take an access software training class. I agree with Liam and some of the others. A site doesn't have to be specially designed for the blind to use it. Learn to work through things rather than writing them off with a narrow-minded response as some of the previous posters have. In many cases, you are only as disabled as you allow yourselves to be.
OMG, love the reply from the roman dude! hehehehehe!
well the way i post my music is buy this website
click here to go and check it out
You just search for videos, photos, or what ever you want to post and you click on one of the search options and then find the first edit box with HTML codding and for example if you want a song you post that song in your music edit field in edit profile.
Its very easy to use and everyone can check out my myspace
here
And just to let you all know i love my space. I think it is better because you can put songs on your profile and you don't have to click on the comment to read it you can just read it from there. I think it is great.
I should use mine more often i like lj too but my myspace is at
http://www.myspace.com/lights_rage
I want myspace, but they haven't even responded to my email about the character verification. I guess I'll have to get someone with site to do it for me.
yep myspace is horrible. stay away! LJ rules! :)
LJ rocks!!!
A lot of cool people out there.
I just thought that myspace would be something different to try out.
I tried MySpace, and I cuold get around, but I just found it extremely awkward. Everyone from my high school has it, but all they post is photos and quizzes. So it works, if you give it time. Which i don't feel like giving. I'm an LJ Nerd, and always will be.

Lol I never have time to waste time! ..
After reading these posts, I highly don't recommend my space because of the inaccessibility, character varification codes, and I've heard there have been sexual predators on the site so be careful! I also suggest not having sighted people help with the word varification. They could get your user name, password, and be able to hack into your account.
I wouldn't get a myspace account if you paid me. what was the statistic I heard about sexual predators on that site? something like 29000 I think. scary stuff
It's scarry to know how many sexual predators are on my space. I have a cousin who loves my space, but he's sighted.
I have my profile friends only but can people really find it and find out stuff just based on what is shown. Is there a way to hide age and location because I don't want the world finding that stuff out.
But issint there sexual predators, on almost every sight you go on? Come on not just myspace.
Hell, there's sexual predators living in your neighborhood right now. There's only that many predators on myspace becaues there's millions of members in general... Sure there are going to be some places that attract predators more (like myspace, with it's vast amounts of minors and people posting suggestive photos, but playgrounds and strip clubs are the same idea).
Anyways, back onto topic...
I got signed onto myspace by a sighted friend, thanks to the inaccessible verification code, but to prevent him from sneaking into my account, I simply just changed my name and password, easy enough. Yes, it would be nice if it was accessible, but we can't all have everything the moment that we want it. Songs are indeed easy to add, looking up myspace profile builders and help sites, there are many and they give you the html tags that allow you to add music and all sorts of things.
What drove me away from myspace was the horrendous laggyness and slowness... and the people who pack their profile for pictures (that cause the page to take forever to load) and music that drowns out JAWS, that also can't be turned off with the escape key.
Oh and not to mention ther'es really not much I find interesting on there.
I enjoy livejournal muchly.... It seems much more well organised and simpler to navigate as well.
